Why is Solaris always booting into the Device Configuration Assistant (DCA)?

Why is Solaris always booting into the Device Configuration Assistant (DCA)?

This is usually caused by one of the following:

  • You installed Solaris onto a disk other than the primary boot disk.
  • You didn't remove your DCA boot diskette or
if you didn't remove your installation CD-ROM if it's in a bootable CD-ROM
    drive.
  • File /boot/solaris/bootenv.rc is corrupt or truncated,
usually after a hard reboot or reset.
This file is setup and used by DCA.
    It should contain several lines.
